Naqsh-e Jahan Square
“Imam” or “ Naqsh-e Jahan Square” is a Rectangular square with the dimensions of 560 * 160 meters which is located in Isfahan city center & is known as one of the important historical complexes of the city. This square was constructed by the time of Safavid era & in the location of a garden which was called “Naqsh-e Jahan” & by the whole time of the monarchy of the Safavid kings, it had its circulation but in the next periods it was stagnated and got some damages.
In the four sides of this square, historical buildings can be seen, constructions like: Ali Qapu, Shah mosque (Isfahan), Sheikh Lotfollah Mosque and the Qeisariyeh façade. In addition to these historical places, there are 200 two stage chambers around the square which in most of them, Souvenirs and handicrafts are being sold.
Naqsh-e Jahan Square is from the earliest Iranian heritages which its name was registered in the UNESCO world Heritage list on April 1979 with the number of 115.
